The Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese, one of Europe’s leading producers of deep-frozen bakery products, relies on Hänel’s cutting-edge solutions to manage the supply of spare parts. The production facilities in Mettingen use a combination of 12 Hänel Lean-Lifts® with the high-performance HänelSoft®-N warehouse management software to ensure reliable intralogistics.

The central management of spare parts within the Hänel vertical lifts saves space and organizes spare parts to perfection. Parts are available at all times, even when demand is high or during the night shift. Seamless communication between HänelSoft®-N and the Comarch Suite ERP system ensures that all storage processes operate smoothly.

Synchronization of ERP and HänelSoft®-N

Storage orders are sent directly from the ERP system to HänelSoft®-N, while incoming goods are exclusively booked in the ERP system. 

All minimum stock levels and order quantities are also managed within the system to ensure precise inventory control. The items are retrieved in HänelSoft®-N based on orders, or by directly entering the item number. The cost centers and project numbers are automatically transferred back to the ERP system, which means that the inventory data in both systems is always synchronized. This close integration aids in the management of production processes by enabling efficient management of spare parts.

Optimized storage for thousands of spare parts

Thousands of spare parts, such as tools, machine parts, electronic components and equipment, are stored securely, compactly, and transparently in the Hänel Lean-Lifts®. HänelSoft®-N offers an intuitive user interface directly at the Hänel controller, which clearly displays all storage information. Employees are also supported by the Hänel Pick-o-Light® Vario visual system, which uniquely marks the storage location in the multifunction container and thus ensures accurate retrieval. Each retrieval is confirmed directly on the HänelSoft®-N controller and automatically booked in the ERP system – a seamless process that maximizes efficiency and transparency.

Ergonomics and security for bulky items

Bulky items like large motors can also be handled with the Hänel Lean-Lift®. Seven of the lifts in the spare parts warehouse can be accessed via an external crane runway, which allows bulky items to be ergonomically retrieved from the extendable multifunction containers. Employees benefit from an efficiently organized work environment, which minimizes physical strain and makes it much easier to access the spare parts.

Digitalization for maximum efficiency

In addition to the Hänel storage systems, HänelSoft®-N is also used at Coppenrath & Wiese to manage stock on conventional shelf units. Tablets and manual scanners equipped with a HänelSoft®-N mobile application are used to retrieve items directly from the shelf and record retrieval in real time in the warehouse management software. This digital integration ensures a smooth workflow, regardless of whether the parts are stored in the Hänel Lean-Lifts® or on the conventional shelves. At Coppenrath & Wiese, more than 12,000 items (including thumbnail images and information) are managed in one place in HänelSoft®-N.
